    Charlie is correct. Gillespie county is pricey, you are looking at 15,000 per acre or more and tax rate is higher. Kerr, Real and Edwards county are all less expensive. I bought 25 acres in Edwards county for about$2,800 per. But there are no utilities on my property just cedar trees.

    We bought just north east of Buffalo just inside Freestone county. Taxes are Dirt cheep and lands good prices right now. We paid just over $4200 an acre.

    Beautiful area, my mother's family is from the Buffalo area and I spent a lot of time there as a kid.
    Once you get north of 79, prices drop dramatically until you get close to Dallas.
