Charlie is correct. Gillespie county is pricey, you are looking at 15,000 per acre or more and tax rate is higher. Kerr, Real and Edwards county are all less expensive. I bought 25 acres in Edwards county for about$2,800 per. But there are no utilities on my property just cedar trees.
It is hard and nasty work!Sounds like work.
I have also looked in those areas. Actually as far as Sonora, Texas.I'd go West out of Kerrville toward Hunt, Mt. Home, etc. or North toward Harper or Fredericksburg. Hwy. 16 North toward Fredericsburg will get expensive for property.

We bought just north east of Buffalo just inside Freestone county. Taxes are Dirt cheep and lands good prices right now. We paid just over $4200 an acre.
