    These and other flavors are only a buck each. Yeah they usually have an expiration date in the 2-3 year range, but they are actually fine for much longer. Tastier than the 25 year survival food stuff, too.

    Canned goods are another inexpensive option. Again 2-3 year official expiration, but are good for more like 10. Another big plus on the canned goods is you don't need additional water to make them. Water is at a premium in survival situations. Don't even need to heat them. Just open and eat.

    The freeze dried stuff is fantastic for camping as it's lightweight and you're probably hiking in where you already know there is water and firewood available.

    If you really want freeze dried, check out a Mormon cannery. They'll have stuff cheaper than the survival buckets.

    Speaking of canning... I'm cycling through these right now. Some pulled pork I canned 9 years ago. Normally I eat stuff sooner than that, but I forgot about these. Still tastes great :green:
