You pay it on one end or the other, 'free' shipping is usually reflected in the price and/or product limits. Didn't know taxes were optional.

    That’s pre-Rona pricing.
No....it's not "pre-rona" (I assume you mean pre-Covid) pricing. Last I bought before the China virus was 17 cents a round for 115 grain and 18 cents a round for 124 grain with no shipping and no taxes. Still got a bunch of it and no one should buy at that price. Shelves are full of it at that price and higher and we should let it sit and rot!

I normally buy from SGAmmo, but recently bought from AmmoJoy. They have Blazer 115 for $235 a cases. They don't charge tax, and charged me $11 to ship 2 cases. I think Locked and Loaded would have been $80 for shipping.

Academy has been selling 9mm for 60 cents a round for 2 years. Price-wise that noted above is a great deal. But sounds like shipping will kill the deal.

    Texarkana - Across The Border
    Locked & Loaded

    CCI Blazer Brass 9mm 115gr or 124gr FMJ $219.99/1000 $0.22/rd
    Shipping unknown
They want $29.99 for shipping uninsured to Texarkana and $19.37 tax and if you want insured shipping add $10.00. You need to figure it all in there to determine if it is a good deal or not. Still, this is a pretty good deal deal at $13.46 per box or $269.20 per case (uninsured shipping) or .27 cents per round (rounded off the next highest penny) when everything is figured. It is always best to calculate shipping and tax as well as the cost of the ammo.

A side note: Ammoseek.com has really stepped up on shipping costs. Not only do they tell you if shipping is considered high, average, or low but now they ask if you want to filter out dealers with higher shipping prices. Those are usually the same dealer who advertise really low ammo prices but then charge way too much for shipping.

Now if you wanted a really good price, you would have come to my table at the last two gun shows wherein I had tables. I was selling brand name 9mm, 115 grain, brass cased, FMJ ammo for $10.00 per box. My price was out the door and I was taking a small loss but I needed cash for something else and I figured I could get it by selling my ammo for less; that with taking only a fairly small loss. Oddly enough though, I still had quite some left at the end of the first show and there were folks buying it at a table near to mine for about $5.00 per box more. It sold out at the second show, when I yelled out at the top of my lungs that I had 9mm ammo for only $10.00 per box. Heck, I had Gold Dot +P 9mm for $25.00 per box and one customer could not believe I had not sold it all in 5 minutes; yes he bought a few boxes of it. Probably made some enemies among other dealers but such is capitalism even if not always profitable.

Range USA in Humble has 40SW 180 gr JHP 20rd boxes for $4.99/box. That’s cheaper than range ammo

Peeps, 2A Warehouse has Federal 22LR HP at 325 rounds, just under $20. I didn't check to see if shipping kills it, but if you're within 50 miles of Houston you can do curbside pickup they say.

    Seems not too bad...

CCI Standard Velocity 40gr LRN AKA Poor man's Subsonics $29.99/Brick @ PSA. Shipping kills it a bit but ain't bad if you buy a few.
Shipping and for guns FFL kill almost everything on line. You can go to Academy and it's listed for more but with the Academy credit card and 5% off have it the same day for barely more in most cases. And when you can wait until Academy has a military/veterans discount day get it for even less.
