Might want to make sure the generators are all in good working condition for the weekend. Ercot has given a request for people to conserve power since they expect a record or near record load.

    What does OCN stand for?
Operating Condition Notices. Kind of a "be aware."

Advisory notice is out as well. "Be prepared."

The next stage is when they issue a watch. When ERCOT "recognizes that conditions have developed such that an insecure operating state exists or is imminent." I will not be at all surprised if we reach this stage this weekend. Winds are forecast to be low today.

Hopefully we will not progress to Emergency Notice.

Why are they expecting such a heavy load?
    Lack of wind generation alone?

Temps are mild in DFW, and seems to be similar across the whole state…?

It’s been windy for a month…they should have put some thought to it and just bottle-up some of that extra wind for later use

It's going to hit almost 100 degrees across most of central Texas. Where the majority of growth has been going on the last 2 years. Yeah yeah DFW is growing. It's nothing like down here.

I imagine we're going to see a lot of power outages starting this year. I have a generator and enough propane to keep me going a few days. Solar hasn't gotten installed yet. Big time bummer.

Highs projected to be 95-96 in Central Texas for next few days. 104-105 in West Texas. Mid 90's on the coast.

Winds were predicted to be low, although the forecast has been swinging around.

Maintenance outages are still being performed, reducing thermal generation.

Planned outages are scheduled to end next Friday on most projects.
This heat wave is just at a time when grid upgrades are wrapping up.

Exactly. Maintenance outages as well. Companies are running behind schedule on their plant maintenances as some that were scheduled during the cold snaps were put off out of an abundance of caution.

Just got back and yes the humidity is way up there, especially when diving in Roatan, Belize and Cozumel. Above the surface was very sticky. Fun but exhausted now. Sunday a day of rest for me.

When I was a kid I lived on Grand Bahama Island. The summers I would spend in Washington state. It would take me about two weeks to get used to the humidity when I got home.

After a month without a power outage, I thought it was time exercise the generators last weekend. As power went down about a hour ago, it's time to start a generator before it gets hot outside.
