In 1995 at Aviano Italy NATO base we washed standing in a galvenized tub with water heated on a campstove in tent city ... the single valve shower tent was often cold only or frozen off! City kids just were appalled and went to bed sweaty

At Fort Bragg in 1987 I took a shower in the rain. Today's army ain't what it once was.

When my Dad lived in a tent for 7 months during the 1943 Aleutian Campaign, they had no showers.
First chance at a hot shower when he got back to Fort Richardson, he caught pneumonia afterward.

First time I ever caught pneumonia was also in the army, kept getting up at 4:30 every morning...... and we didn't have cell phones, and drill Sergeant's still got all up in our face not like today. Kudos (major big balled ones to your dad)!
