    Nerd alert:

We don't actually know how long it takes light to reach us or get somewhere from here. We only know the roundtrip time. The one way time could be anything between C/2 to infinite...

Unless there is some weird path that forces the light to detour on its path (such as getting from the suns core to the surface) we have a pretty good idea of how long it takes light to get somewhere, given that the speed is constant. The differences in time are simply a matter of perspective.

We *set* C as the speed of light only based on round trip times, we have yet to measure a one way speed. C=299729458m/s EXACTLY in a vacuum, but we have never been able to to measure that except as a round-trip avg. One leg *could* be faster or slower than the other.

That can be argued, but it’s not a realistic argument. It’s like trying to go back to light traveling in a ether which has been long since disproven and it was found that light travels the same speed regardless of direction.

That alone makes the idea of not knowing because we measure the round trip nothing more than “you can’t PROVE it despite all the evidence saying it’s true”.

To argue otherwise it to argue that C isn’t constant, despite all evidence and experimentation done showing us that C is indeed constant.
