    Jeff Cooper once wrote that when he occasionally had to point a firearm at a photographer so that a particular picture could be taken it took a great deal of willpower to overcome his training and deliberately break a safety rule like that. I'm guessing no one in the room when that picture was taken felt the least bit unnerved by the circumstances. So the answer to your question would be "Since neither of them has a lick of sense, it's a tie."
    Only way I'd be comfortable with doing that shot is with a remote shutter release.

    With WiFi enabled cameras the remote shutter release could be anywhere on the planet, so you could stay home. In theory anyway :)
    Yes, but I'm thinking you would have to go there to set up the said camera. I'll sit at home and wait for your upload.

    I have to assume that back in those days, the self-timer got a lot of use. But if he was on a location photo shoot and the photographer forgot to bring a tripod, well, I guess they just had to make do with what they had.
