They are opening up one right around the corner from me near the airport. Has anyone ever eaten at one? It looks like they are owned by Jim's, does that mean it will be like Jim's but only serve burgers?

Anyway, I am looking forward to this opening, maybe when it does some of us can meet up there on a weekend?

Interesting since the Frontier name was the 'forerunner' to Jim's Restaurant...pretty cool story:

In 1947, G. “Jim” Hasslocher opened a bicycle rental business at the front gate of Brackenridge Park. When summer arrived he started selling sliced, ice-cold watermelon next to his bike stand. It was here that he met his wife and lifetime business partner, Veva Ball.
Soon Jim started selling charcoal-broiled hamburgers at a stand which evolved into the first Frontier Drive-In. The popular drive-in was a favorite meeting place and became famous for its burgers, onion rings, milkshakes and carhops.

Frontier Enterprises is the parent corp name.

When I was a kid, Frontier is where we went for burgers. They were grilled over charcoal and were the best ever but were put out of business when McDonalds came to town. The burgers and onion rings at Jims are very similar but the burgers just don't have that charcoal flavor. What they now call the "Ol' Smokey" had a different sauce and was called "Jim's Favorite".

Just what SA needs is another burger joint!

Haven't found a decent charbroiled burger here in years.

To hell with the high carcinogenic content of open flame & wood smoked roasted ground beef, high in saturated fats, and seasoned with liberal amounts of butter, bacon, onion, garlic, cheese, and salt and pepper.

My heart is already shot, so a few good burgers can only help me die happy with a full belly.

    Be well.

My two favorites are still Five Guys and Fuddruckers, but if this one comes close, it is so much closer. LOL and with those menu prices, it can't be beat!

5 guys is great. If you like fuddruckers, next time you make it down to Corpus Christi, try wallbangers. They are better than fuddruckers. They have this cheese sauce for the fries that's addicting. The burgers are amazing, but the chicken sandwiches are to die for. After having a chicken sandwich it's hard for me to go back to the hamburgers because it's soooooo freaking good.

Yeah, my wife and I definitely want to make it down there. In fact, that is where my grandparents met. They were both stationed there during ww2, So we need to take a picture in front of the naval station, and send it to my grandmother.
