Does anyone know where you can order bushels of produce and have it shipped to your door? We found a farmer's market here in Killeen that had some stuff, but didn't really sell by the bushel. I am looking for Silver Queen Corn (or similar Sweet Corn), green beans, butter (or lima) beans, broccoli, etc. Figure it would be best to find the places before the harvest season so I could get on a list if they had one.

Hope to get my garden going again this year for tomatoes, cucumbers, zucchini, peppers, onions, etc. With corn and beans, we blanch, vacuum seal and freeze. I hope to get a pressure canner and start canning this year for tomatoes and other stuff. Hoping someone might have some suggestions of places to try.

It all depends on what you mean by a "bushel."

    Check out this reference:

    https://www.unc.edu/~rowlett/units/scales/bushels.html

You are talking anywhere from 18 to 60 lbs of produce.

Do you have the means to preserve them?

The first thing to do is visit farmer's markets everywhere you can find them. Then tell the growers you will commit to "X" number of pounds of the product you want.

Pay him up front, and wait for him to grow it for you. If he falls, short make sure your contract includes a refund for the difference.

I have a weird ability to forget that I have fruits and veggies at the house. For some reason, I can't wrap my head around the fact that the stuff is there and needs to be eaten. In many cases, when I get it together, it's too late to use it and I hate wasting food.

Canned veggies and fruit are the only way for me to go!
