I make no apologies for my posts in regards to the new guy. I reacted to the picture and the comment made. I'll stand by my previous posts that I made. IF, I thought I was in the wrong for my comments, I'd say so. And whether anyone agrees with me or not, I don't think what I said was wrong.

In all fairness, the new guy hasn't even been a member a day here, and just a little over 20 posts so far. So in such factors, how do I know whether he was being funny, or sarcastic, or straight up serious with his post and the picture?

I also merely pointed out clarifying one's opinion might not lead to a misunderstanding.

Frequently sarcastic ... NEVER with an intent to target any person, just trying to make light of the situation we find ourselves in with this interminable lock down, these intrusive mandatory requirements, and the unbelievable scare tactics being perpetrated on us by our main stream media who paint the picture in the most negative light possible.

    A firm believer in:

"there are three kinds of falsehoods, lies, damned lies and statistics" from Arthur James Balfour, 1st Earl of Balfour, 1892

I think calling someone a sheepie because they wear a mask when necessary is the argument. Took my wife to the doctor today and had to wear a mask. Don't like being called a sheepie. You definitely don't want to mess with my wife.
I don't think that you will find anyone on this forum that is a sheepie and many have to wear a mask at times.

Mowing acreage is a once a week thing for me. The thing I find hot is first I have do a limb litter pickup...yep, that's hot. Mowing is a breeze. The mower does all the work.

You really think masks are effective?

    Honestly?

Or, only comply when you need medical care?

I had to go to the dentist recently. Didn't wear a mask and they didn't insist on it for me, of course they were all masked and gowned and looked like a space ship crew.

Note a couple of clarification edits below.

Dont know where the disconnect is. They have every legal right to stop you for stealing or to ask to check receipts and detain you if you are stealing or vandalizing. You dont have to comply with the receipt check. Any employee can "legally" do this. There is a thin line where this goes into illegal detention etc. Which is why most err way to the safe side with their policies.

It's been said several times the company policy forbids this and it has been discussed why they do things differently. Detaining someone for doing nothing wrong is a felony.

Never did the job in texas but in most states you can technically legally be arrested/ detained and forced to pay steep civil restitution or even prosecuted for opening a drink and drinking it before you pay for it but stores policies say otherwise. That's the point.

Most of us submit to this crap, receipt checks waiting in lines etc at times and we're probably being a dick for not doing it when we decide not today. Like a temp check at a restaurant the foundation for the thread. The restaurant probably has every legal right to do so but you decided that was your hill to die on that day.

As far as trespass warnings, consider that the exercise is futile. Detaining you and holding you for the police to be called and officially trespass you from the store, which is required if there is to be any future arrest and actual penalty, for walking by a greeters and not submitting to a receipt check when everything you have is paid for. That's not going to go well when you bitch to higher ups. Again why policy is what it is.
Quoted for an edit. I was confusing in my sentence about receipts. They can ask all day. That doesn't mean you have to comply.

I wasn't clearly separating the stopping to detain from asking for a receipt. Saying they have the right to ask isnt the same as the right to detain and I wasn't clear. I figured the separation was clear and obviously it wasnt.

I didn't say masks are effective. I don't know if they are. I guess it is a question of what effective means. My masks are home made that a friend gave us. I guess if I were positive for cv than a mask might prevent me from spreading large droplets. It probably wouldn't protect me from a person positive with cv. It probably wouldn't prevent me from spreading small droplets.

I would definitely prefer not wearing one. My glasses fog up, I feel uncomfortable with one on. I am willing to put up with all of this on a temporary basis knowing that it will be over. Temporary is the key word here. There are other restrictions that I really don't like, a 30.06/07 sign at a business that means I can't protect myself if I need a gun, gun free zones, had to leave my gun in the car to vote, can't even go to a post office parking lot. Lot's of important things I don't like. Mask things I can put up with on a temporary basis.

    Rotor,

Please read Hoji's thread/post having to get plaguke tested and what the M.D. had to say about masks and the plague in general.

Is the plague a real thing?

    Yep.

Is it completely masked in bs?

    Absolutely!

But, we should all just meekly do what we're told and tell ourselves 'well, it's not that bad' afterall, there's other stuff we can complain about, so quitcher bitcher and do what yer toad...

    masks - check

    socialist distancing - check

    lockdown - check

don't go to work or church or attend a funeral with over so many (don't know the number) people, ah, unless you're a dead, greasy, slimeball, criminal politician....check

There's more, but you get my drift...I hope.

I read Hoji's post. So he sees one doctor that says one thing and God has spoken. I am undecided about the effectiveness of the masks we are using. What I do know is that my wearing a mask does not protect me from CV but if I had CV it might protect someone else. If I might be helping someone else not catch a disease that I might have and still be asymptomatic that is okay by me. If I had CV and gave it to someone else because I didn't wear a mask I would feel really bad. I still don't know the effectiveness of a mask. But I can put up with a lot on a temporary basis. How would you feel if you were an asymptomatic carrier and passed this disease to someone else because you wouldn't wear a mask (assuming that the mask might work)? Again, I don't know what works. None of us really know.
