    Oh yeah, that's an absolutely incredible feat of engineering. I still remember when the Mile events were young and the 250 "barrier" was broken. ... and now they're doing in the half. Mind boggling.

    Here is a good article about a ford GT that I have seen run the Texas mile for a couple years. I remember when it set the record at 276 and 280 something. Seeing these street cars run the mile land speed events is really neat. I have been to Victoria and prior to that Beeville for the Texas mile a handfull of times. They run in March and October.

    The current record is 300mph. That is trap speed at a mile marker from a dig.
