Alabama Football is a religion, and like any other religion most who worship are fanatics that cannot be reasoned with.

I grew up about an hour from Tuscaloosa. I visit there at least once a year. 90% don't care about politics to the same level as we do on this forum. They just live their lives while cheering on their favorite sports teams. Keep in mind most people are UA fans not coach fans. Their love of Alabama football doesn't change depending on the coach.
