It's a beast. And it's feeling like it'll be very nicely balanced. I'm going to try a couple of things on it to make it really nice in the hand so Hoji enjoys using it.
That looks like it could slice open a Russian tank. You should sell them to the Ukranians.

Slow progress...this steel is  tough! A few hours worth of grinding here...more to do before the heat treat.

So, I did a little reshaping on the pommel of the Bonechopper, which kept me from grinding it yesterday. So I started on a couple of reasonably-sized knives. Worked a little more on them today (along with getting rid of the warp I accidentally introduced to the Bonechopper's handle), then did a bit more of the endless grinding.

As you can see there's a good bit of work yet to go on these knives, but the basic blade profiles are taking shape. These two will (because of a slight lack of planning) be my first hidden tang knives...once I get the tangs thinned and drawn out.

The clip-point blade is about 6 inches long.

Bonechopper progress! It's time to bevel the edge FINALLY. I'm going for a fairly wide, shallow bevel, which should remove the last vestiges of hammer marks in that area. Right now the blade is sanded at 220 grit. I'll probably stay there until after the heat treat, then see about going a little smoother with the finish just so it washes clean easily.

Hell yeah! Looks good. Real good.
Just a reminder, drill pin holes before heat treating. It is much easier to drill that way.

I made the mistake of accidentally heat treating a truck frame and then trying to hole saw through it. Ruined 4 bits.

THE ONE THAT I LEARNED ON WAS ABOUT 90% FINISHEDAND I DROPPEDIT AND SAW IT BREAKINTOTHREE OIECES!

Ouch! Yeah, I tend to treat a just-quenched blade as if it's made of the finest crystal. I know one of these days one will break before I can temper it, but I'd like that day to be far off when it doesn't mean the loss of that many hours of effort.
