As a LEO I would NEVER (LIKE NEVER EVER) allow my dl or ltc to be photographed, copied etc. And if I did I would immediately revoke my consent for the possession of my identifying information and the possessor would then be committing a crime if the information was not destroyed or deleted immediately.
This does not compute, help me understand your thoughts.

    Possession of my identifying information

    Name
    Birthday
    Address
    Bank account number
    Etc

Without my consent can be a crime.

    Consent can be withdrawn.

Allow the photo to be taken or info to be copied, then once the gun is in hand and they have their cash, withdraw consent.

Possession of more than 5 (?) person's information without their consent is presumption of intent to defraud and a State Jail Felony.

Can a civilian call the police if they won't return/delete the info?
Or would they get laughed at?

Serious question, but just out of curiosity.

Is this ever actually prosecuted? Anyone could get #1-#3 online with a little work on a ton of people in under an hour. There are a variety of professions where info many of us don't want shared is forced to be publicly accessible. I have personal experience with this and would love to be able to stop someone from having access or keeping it.

    ... help me understand ...

I think Coiled is asking how the info could be appropriated from your ID if you don't give permission.

If so, it happened to me once so I can provide an example. A business asked to see my ID and I handed it over because their rules were you had to be an adult to enter. No money was being exchanged at this time so I thought nothing of it.

The clerk swiped it through a card reader and handed it back. I told her I didn't like that and I would have never given permission to copy my license. She promised to delete the data.

I feel sure she didn't but I had done all I could do.

Unless they posses 5 or more you'd also need to show some intent to harm (I wonder if passing the info to police/atf would count)

    Yeah that's not cool.

I'll show, but I try to keep it in my hand so that doesn't happen. Thankfully I have an alias address, but still don't want name/don't etc at risk

    Interesting.
Isn't one legally required to have their current address on their license?

I think you're one of the good guys but that seems rather shifty.
    Regardless, thanks for clarifying.

Oh yeah, super shifty and I'd just pass on the buy.

I'd love the FAL he has listed, but not going to do a BOS and have a photo taken of my ID.

I'll even go as far as presuming he has good intent and is simply misguided, but Down the road, I don't want even something not his fault to allow other to know my private business.

Must be changed to the new address within 30 days of moving.

Police and a few other are allowed to use an alias address of the courthouse.

I figured that might possibly be it.
