Seems like the officer in question is probably going to be appropriately punished. Don't see the need for another law.

I'm glad no one was hurt.

I didnt mean to imply it was an arguement, just that cops shouldnt have to go anywhere unarmed if they dont want to. I wouldnt want to go to a restaurant/bar with my wife for dinner and have to leave my weapon in a vehicle. If I run into someone who I have locked up, I dont want to be unarmed....but thats just me. Now, if an officer cant handle his/her liquor, and does something stupid as in this story in Dallas, then I firmly believe their status should change from police officer to civilian immediatley.
Understood, and very good point. I agree fully.

I believe a cop should be able to carry anywhere. I feel safer knowing cops are always armed (unless they want to go to a bar and cut loose)...
...I also believe a cop should be held to a higher standard when it comes to using good judgment. This officer used very poor judgment and will pay dearly for her mistakes. I feel safer knowing that she will no longer be a cop.

We don't need another law just because this idiot was stupid. How many drunk off duty cops killed a citizen last week... month... year?

The fool in Philadelphia a week or two ago that got charged with murder?
On the other hand, I agree that we don't need any more laws to restrict LEOs.

cops shouldnt have to go anywhere unarmed if they dont want to. .

    agreed....
but why limit it jsut to peace, and policy enforcement officers?

I shouldnt have to go anywhere unarmed if I dont want to.
just saying. i never realized cops could carry whatever whenever and wherever they want - when they are off duty. while i am not against this, i dont see why it should be diffrent for anyone else.
