I ordered a couple of hundred of these from S&G Ammo to try out in my Mossberg Shockwave with the Opsol Adapter for mini shells.

They feel a little stouter than the Aguila mini shells and function flawlessly through the gun.
Tomorrow I will do some shooting for pattern and accuracy.

I like what I am seeing so far.

Looking forward to the comparison between Aquila and Federal mini shells. Especially interested in how they pattern at 10 yards or so.

Federal is less expensive( for now) stronger and patterns better.

Aguila is more readily available and in an across the bedroom scenario will do just fine( if the performance on 60ish pound pigs in a extra large corral trap are an accurate performance indicator)

I have done a little bit of research and all the federal mini shells boxes I find only come with 10 cartridges per box and aquila 20. It looks like they are similar in cost when you take the number of cartridges in account. Maybe aquila a few cents cheaper.

The Federal was $57 per 100 from SGammo making it a couple of cents cheaper than Aguila even with shipping.

I think either choice would be effective from “across the bedroom/living room distances out of a Shockwave.

My wife says the Shockwave with mini shells is the only 12 gauge she enjoys shooting ( and she has a Benelli M1-90)

    Good info.

When you say feel stouter, can you give us more info? Are you talking .38 to .357 stouter? Full size steel 9mm to +P stouter? Or baby browning 32 acp to 44 mag stouter?

Less than a 2 3/4 but a little heavier punch than the Aguila. I read that the Federal is using a new powder formula in their mini shells to make them a little hotter.

Honest question; Will these shot shells cycle in pump or Semi auto shotguns? I'd play with some if they cycle in an 870

Not sure if there is an adapter for the 870 yet. Probably will not cycle in a semi. The Opsol adapter works great in all Mossberg 500 series.

I have heard they function fine in the Winchester defender series shotguns

My apologies everyone. I usually mention the Opsol adapter in all of my Shockwave threads. It is a $17 insert that literally takes about 3 seconds to install with no tools.

Mine has been flawless for hundreds of rounds.

No apologies necessary, I really did mean thanks! After reading all this they sound like a lot fun so I ordered some. When I’m done playing and doing my own testing with the 500 JIC I think I’ll load the adapter and a full tube in my wife’s 590 HD piece.
