Luckily... I do not Not sure if harvester ants will do the same.
I have allowed ONE fire ant bed to remain UN-poisoned & "not burned out" as it's far from our farmhouse & YEP friends & I have "fed the ants" with deer skulls several times.
I know ZILCH about harvester ants, btw.
Dermestid beetle not ants.
Got my mounting plaque finished and on the wall. Looks better now.
VERY NICE JOB, imVho.
(Fwiw, I've paid to have my LAST "head" done professionally, UNLESS/UNTIL I may collect a REALLY SPECTACULAR Cape Buffalo with my XB.)
After a friend in the German Army did a Euro-mount of my II-B Hirsh, I asked myself WHY I was paying $$$$$$$ to a taxidermist.
Did you use anything to restore the color in the antlers? I have a Euro that I have bleached the skull, but the antlers have faded from the sun while nature did its thing. I've read about using stump remover. I'm considering acrylic paint.
Had a buddy use clear acrylic on the horns like that.
I have used a poly or even lacquer on some but these are natural.
Just finished my Arkansas buck
yes, this is the one with the methbilly teeth.
thanks for the boiling in peroxide tip. I usually finish with peroxide and sunlight. You sped up the process !
