I have slowly been replacing my red dots for eotechs on a few of my defense type rifles. I just finished them easier to pick up quickly.

For those of you who use eotech for your home defense rifle, do you use rechargeable batteries or on-rechargable batteries?

I know eotech lists battery life info but does anyone have any real-world data using either battery type?

My home defense AR wears an EXPS-3. Also moderate use -- I shoot it once a week, dry fire it maybe 2-4x a week, and change the battery every year, never tried a rechargeable. Never had an issue, probably could run the battery for much longer, but I don't see a point in risking it.

I have abunch of disposables and bought a few rechargeable surefire just incase I can't find them for some reason. Paranoid I guess.

My Aimpoints I do not turn off for the crazy battery life,
I totally agree. I love the battery life of red dots, shake awake, solar, etc. I just prefer the eotech image.

I swap all my batteries in all my optics and lights on my birthday. It’s worth it not to think about it. I had a 512 and that I would swap the AA every six months.
I agree with not having to worry about the batteries. I'm a worrisome person. Once I had a pistol I picked up for edc. During a range trip it had a couple of malfunctions. I had a hard time sleeping after that. When. I did sleep I had nightmares of that gun failing during a gun fight. I got rid of the pistol. Yes, I'm weird.

At least I'm not telling you that it's raining.

I had just started typing a response earlier when I was interrupted, and forgot what I was going to put down. So, like my dog does, I marked it and walked away.

    Wait, I remember now.

That's not weird, it's your subconscious seeing something you don't see directly. Very similar to those times when a pro card player can tell when another player is bluffing, or when he knows that he's beat. Nothing you can directly point to, but, something that says STOP! NOW!!
