    Okay guys and gals,

I find myself looking for suggestions from you all about a good pocket carry EDC flashlight. Something that can clip on the pocket, has lots of lumens, doesn't cost an arm and a leg.

    Ok, GO.......

I like the olight baton 3 or 4.

I've read varying reviews online but I've carried olight for about a decade with no issues.

    S10.baton 2,3, & 4.

I currently have 3 baton 3's, 4 baton 4's, and 2 arkfelds. All use proprietary batteries and charge via a magnetic base.

They run up to 1300 lumens.

I carry 2 baton 4's daily. 1 in the charger and 1 on my belt. User gets low and I simply swap it out with the fresh one in charger base. Base recharges light up to 5 times on the baton 4.

3.7 times on the baton 3

Magnetic base is great for under the hood...etc...

My cell light is all I carry hell I only carry my car key and house key.
Never carry coins or a pocket knife anymore. My body has that WTF were you thinking shape now and nothing works short of leaving it all behind. If I go hunting it's all in a backpack.

Presently have a Streamlight Microstream ($30 amazon) clipped in my pocket and a tiny Olight (too beat up to read model designation) on my key ring.

Both are USB chargeable. So, the designated charge cord in my truck charges either light or bluetooth hearing pro or bluetooth headphones in a pinch.

And, I've carried two lights ever since it became so easy. I've loaned the keyring olight to hundreds of friends that required a porta jon run after dark. And it is amazing how much microtext the old eyes can decipher with an abundance of light.

Wait. Why do you have my flashlights?! :)

I carry a fair amount of stuff; even the keyring has so much on it that I clip it to a belt loop, won't really go into a pocket comfortably (gonna be interesting with my next jury duty service next month). For what is truly EDC I want very small lights. In a pocket is a Streamlight MicroStream, just like Dred. Inexpensive, sized nicely, bright enough. On the keychain is a tiny Olight i1R 2 EOS...which could very well be the same model Dred has.

I have bigger, higher lumen lights in the center console of the SUV and at home, but I pretty much stopped trying to carry a lighthouse worth of lumens. My goal is fast and easy activation with enough output for target identification at modest urban distances. I don't carry a light as a force-multiplier or substitute yawara.

Leads me to a pet peeve. As LED lights have gotten brighter, cheaper, and more sophisticated, what I've always steered away from are lights that have any sort of complicated click-this, click-and-hold-that pattern to get what I want out of it. Sorry, but I've never been convinced that anyone is going to remember, under extreme duress, to click the darned thing four times quickly in order to get the brightest, steady light. If you're in a pitch-dark 20x30 room and unexpectedly set off a bright strobe, it's going to disorient you as much as the bad guy.

Give me a simple tailcap switch that you press only when you need the light. No constant on from pressing a little harder, no SOS signal, no changing LED colors, no Bat-signal. Just a bright instant on, instant off light.

I don't carry one everywhere I go, but this is the one I have kept handy for several years now.

It is meant to be a bicycle headlight, Has four brightness settings, the brightest being 800 lumens. USB rechargeable and the charge lasts for longer than I have ever needed it to. I think I paid about $60 for it.

How many Lumens are you looking for and how much $? The Streamlight Microstream USB is my EDC but at 250 Lumens, it’s not a “tactical” light. As mentioned above, it’s under $30 so no heartbreak if you abuse or lose it.

Here it is between a lip balm and Sharpie.

I never understood the point of EDC flashlight until I bought one a whim a short time ago on an Amazon sale. Streamlight Microstream, rechargeable version. I always just relied on my cellphone. I now see the draw of them and been carrying it daily. Handy little light and I don’t really notice it in my pocket at all.

I started carrying a light daily when I spent 9 years as a dock foreman on the night shift. Alot of checking contents in dark 48 ft trailers lol. The habit stuck.

I figure some might carry an umbrella if they think it might rain.

I know it's gonna get dark every night. ;)

    410 lumens,
    Compact package (4" long)
Very affordable, I think I got 2 for ~ $15 at the Lowe's black Friday sale (don't quote me on that, it's been a minute)
Great on Battery life (single AA battery)

Carried a Streamlight Protac 1L nearly daily for almost a decade now... its been through the washing machine and dryer a few times (broke the lens) but it still works great. Bright, small, dimable and not too expensive.
