I made the call and I'll stand by it. If he comes back in a few days and makes me look stupid, the next time will be different.
Just a side note - There's a point system on the forum software to help keep track of troublemakers. I don't use it. I don't think any of the other mods use it, either. That means that the way I keep track of whether someone needs a permaban is to give them a short timeout. Then a longer one. By that time, they either settle down and learn the rhythm of the place or they fail to do so, inevitably flying off the handle. Then comes a permaban.
What he did in reviving this thread was mild compared to the things people have done to get permabanned. Very mild.
I hope everyone will give him a fresh start and the benefit of the doubt when he returns. I know I will.
