They are likely not trying to make something "stick" right now, but doing several things:

1) Reinforce the negitive association between Trump and russia

2) Create a false narrative that can be used for preventing a peaceful transfer of power (in the fashion of blm/hamas riots or by staging another 6JAN event...)

3) Lay the groundwork for lawfare and political obstructionism 2025-2029.
