This little Browning Buck Mark was one of our rental guns and shot a lot. Other than finish wear, it is still a great little pistol so I kept it when we retired. The barrel just screamed.....thread me.......so I obliged.......

There is a alignment pin in the front sight and a 6X40 bolt that holds in on...Both had to be relocated.

Cut the threads.........the alignment pin was drilled deeper than necessary, so the remnant of the hole is in the threads.....won't be an issue though...........I drilled the new holes to the same depth....

Drill the alignment pin hole and then the bolt hole, then tap with a taper then bottom taps.......because the barrel is tapered, to get the proper angle, I used a gage pin and a machinist jack for extra support under the muzzle................the brass marks on the barrel are from the barrel fixture.....and will rub off....

Next I will bead blast and polish the barrel and slide, then rust blue them....the frame is aluminum and I will leave it as is...............

    Molestation is complete...............

I used Brownell's classic rust bluing solution and my home made rust cabinet.........

After polishing the barrel and slide I applied the rust solution and hung them in the cabinet. I have a 100 watt bulb in the bottom and a plant humidifier I stole from my wife...
I mounted a remote hygrometer/thermometer in the cabinet.....

About 1 1/2 hours later (it doesn't take long to rust if the heat and humidity is right) I removed the parts and boiled them in distilled water.......I plugged the barrel with hard wood plugs to keep water from the barrel (must be hard wood not soft like pine) and boiled for about 12-15 minutes. Let them cool and carded the parts off with a well used carding brush in the drill press.....then repeated the process 4 more times..........I also ran a patch through the bore after every boiling.....I used a steel quarter tank, but any pot would do. It doesn't need to be stainless like when parkerizing. The burner is from my turkey fryer.............

I used clean white cotton gloves when carding, nitrile gloves to apply the solution....and cotton pads that women use to remove make up......

After the last boiling and carding I smothered the parts in boiled linseed oil for a few hours then wiped dry and applied Remoil.....
