Our large magnolia tree started blooming a few days ago, and I just noticed that there are more buds left to open than I have ever seen.

Lawn guy pulled my hawthorne out for 40$. saved me a lot of work. Some started to come back but they will look like trash for many years. I'll replace in fall. Roses and iris are funny, color depends on soil acidity.

We have a gorgeous 'bottle brush tree' that looks mighty dead to me due to the freeze, but SWMBO says hold on, it'll be fine...I doubt it, but I was wrong once before ok...twice.
MM - how is your bottlebrush doing? Has it come back?

Ours has come back from the roots and is about 18" high already.

We lost our only fig tree and I'm bummed about that.

Oleanders dead to the ground but are coming back now. Sage same.

10 mountain juniper lost but they are trash trees anyway. PITA to clean up and burn.

Huge Rosemary bush toast but we got enough cuttings to last for 10 lifetime's.

Don't get me carping on plumbers and insurance adjusters though.

The Ash tree from the OP is showing some green sprouting, but in all the wrong places. Not a good sign.

Well, the tree cost me about $40, so even if they do cover it, can't get back the 18 years it took to grow it.
If they covered it it would be at the value before the freeze not the original cost I am guessing. Everything with home insurance is what the replacement cost would be minus the deductible. Might even cover removal of the tree. All speculation as I have not called to find out. Have lost bushes, no trees. My best apple trees were lost years ago to beavers.
