    We have several possums, along with 3-7 raccoons, come over every night from the tree line and my wife feeds them. Never had any issues with either of them. May be because my wife feeds them cookies, buttered toast and our left over dinners. And, yes, she has names for each of them.

    Sounds like a great way to get rabies and distemper.

    They don't come inside and wife doesn't go outside when they are here. As I said, we have had no issues in the 11 years she has been feeding them. They come up and eat, stay for around 30 min. then leave until the next night.

    Oh then that's different. I figured she was about hand-feeding them.
