I just returned from my local Costco in Selma. Panic buying has started. They're out of bottled water, paper towels, toilet paper, bleach and disinfectant (Clorox type) wipes.
Great. Anyone seeing this outside of the San frAntonio metro?

I was at the Costco in Cypress on Saturday. No Kirkland water. No Kirkland toilet paper. Then again, I did buy charman toilet paper and some kirkland paper towels. I was however mostly interested in there Avacado cooking oil because it is the cats pajamas. I also got some toothbrushes and toothpaste. Their kerrygold butter is a better price than HEB. The crowd did not seem unnatural for an Saturday at 4pm.

With that being said, I try and keep a couple weeks of food in the normal rotation. I have a small pack of wolves I call my children. At 8, 7, 3 and 1 you would be amazed how much of the stock they can plow through in a day if unchecked.

Also, there is no Costco in College station. It would not be unusual for me to spend hundreds of dollars when my travels bring me by one.

On a parting note, to totally dismiss all the strange details of the Corona may be a poor choice. I am generally a weary person of the "official narrative". Please look into items around the supply chain and hard data like the Baltic dry index. Even if you do not get the Corona, certain items may prove hard to get. Us humans seem to like to create self fulfilling prophecies...

As I was told years ago, Keep your powder dry.

    Tried Sherwin-Williams?
No, that's a good idea. I found a single package of P100 filter pads at the second home depot. According to a lady I talked working there, they've been flying off the shelves for two weeks. I'm no longer kicking myself for forgetting to get a few on Saturday.

This is fascinating as we watch the panic that is being nurtured! Remove references to this virus from all the posts, photos and media propaganda and substitute "Guns" or "Ammunition", and we have a clear picture about how our recent and famous "shortages" developed!

It’s news sensationalism. All networks want their ratings. They do this with just about everything, including storms that come rolling in. They call those segments “Storm Watch 20xx”.

I’m not discounting that people are panic buying, but the same kind of stuff happens for any imminent natural disaster too.

Level headed thinking and analysis goes a long way to being calm and collected. Blaming the media for something they do for everything is foolhardy.

That is a pretty light crowd for an HEB in SA.

Just got back from voting and while I was out, did some shopping at the HEB here in Bastrop. It was pretty much exactly as shown in that picture, which is a pretty normal day. I did a drive-by on the aisle with the disinfectant wipes -- plenty in stock. In fact, plenty of everything afaict.

I guess Bastrop has decided that its solution to the Prisoner's Dilemma will be to go for something closer to optimal than the people in SA

I’m still trying to understand why in the name of all things holy people are stocking up with industrial quantities of asswipes for a respiratory illness.

I was thinking about this as well and perhaps they are thinking it may get so bad that they feel they may not be able to get to the store in the next few weeks or that stores may even be closed for a period of time and/or that supplies may dwindle if supply chains fail. And perhaps it's just general panic with no reason at all.

Not sure if it was true or not but I saw a posting on another forum with photos of a film crew emptying grocery store shelves of water, etc., piling them up on the floor and then filming the empty shelves with subtitles of the 'panic buying' because of the Cornavirus.

From what I have heard 90% of this is limited to Costco and mostly Asians and Mexicans, especially in California

The simple answer is that they will be eating all that canned chili and meats they bought. My wife told me she doesn't like canned soup. I told her she would if she is hungry
