You could do anything that fits in the magazine, that uses the same rim diameter as the .223 Rem. Otherwise you will have to change the bolt group, along with the barrel.
A quick Google search shows these guys can convert Mini-14s to a couple of different calibers, but the Mini-30 has all the good ones available: 6.5 Grendel, 6mm PPC, 6.8 SPC.
If you want .243 in a similar package, you'll need to use an M1A.
m1a is what i was after but due to the (shortage) is there a gun that is semi auto and reliable that i can make suitable for long range in possibly 243 winchester, 260 remington. or 308 ect.
