    Another thing I would add is be careful when reading online reviews. Most people don't know what good dental work is or when the dentist is ripping them off. Some will try to maximize your insurance and do unnecessary treatment. The only thing I would take from. Online reviews are things like staff friendliness, office cleanliness, wait times, etc.

    Solid advice.

    Also, bedside manner or the behavior of one staff member (usually) has nothing to do with the quality. A nerdy, socially awkward, Moonpie kinda doctor may do the best work. Even gruff, rude docs sometimes do great work but you gotta wonder how they keep employees.

    Like @Vaquero said, the honesty is brutal. We got to our current dentist in a round about way...she was the nearest clinic accepting pts with our insurance provider at the time and we had just relocated here from CO. Didn’t know anybody and needed to get in for a cleaning.

    The info above changes a lot of things, but not the desire to find a new, good general dentist.
