I just have a bad feeling with all this “common sense” rhetoric going on now, I have been into firearms for over 40 years now, and this may be the worse I have seen/heard so far. It’s always an inanimate object they are possessed with.
The "common sense" rhetoric is just a nicer way of saying they want more gun control laws.

Also disguised as "safety measures" to placate the sheeple.

Texas GOP donors urge Congress to act on gun control measures like red flag laws

"The contents of the letter are in line with policies Abbott and other party leaders, including Lt. Gov. Dan Patrick, have supported in the past — though not the ones they are endorsing now."

"After the 2018 school shooting in Santa Fe, outside Houston, Abbott supported “red flag” laws"

"The next year, after back-to-back mass shootings in El Paso and Midland-Odessa, Patrick said he was “willing to take an arrow” from the National Rifle Association and support expanding background checks."

"This time, neither Patrick nor Abbott have expressed any support for tightening gun laws."

"But Cornyn has shown a willingness, now and in the past, to support some bipartisan gun legislation."

Okay, I've done some reading on Israel's school (Public and University) security and gun laws, and I'm not sure it would work the same in the U.S.

First of all, I certainly don't want Israel's gun laws here.

Second, Israel's police are civilians, not government.

The guards (one or more) at the schools are most often hired through security firms.

While they are concerned with the lone shooter, their main focus is on terrorism. Civilian police and army will respond to terrorist attacks.

The school guard or guards are responsible for the school entrance, for which there is only one, and the grounds outside the building. They are not responsible for the interior of the school.

The only personnel allowed guns in schools and universities are; guards, School Ministry (Administrators with only weapons that are provided by the ministry), police and army. Which means no teachers or students are allowed.

Entrance to the school grounds (which include parking lots) will be allowed through the guards, which may turn away any they deem not acceptable.

Finally, all people in Israel that carry firearms are licensed, and must go through higher standards than most of the U.S. to be able to be licensed.

I am sick and tired of people talking about "common sense gun laws." It's adherence to common sense that got this country with somewhere in thew neighborhood of 2000 gun laws.

Let's try something different. Let's try uncommon good sense. There is no gun law that can protect the country from evil people doing evil things. They don't obey the laws that already exist and they aren't going to obey any new ones either. Proof of that is Chicago, a city with the strictest gun laws and the most shootings. All gun laws do is restrict the law abiding not the criminals.

The problem isn't guns but behavior. We need enforcement of the laws that already exist in order to de-incentivise criminal behavior. We need to harden our schools much like Israel has done. One door in with a man trap. No one gets in without passing through security. We need armed and trained teachers. We need armed security in the schools.
    It's over 22,000 firearms laws

That many laws and nothing changes. Hmmmm...

Politicians won’t be happy until everything has a tax stamp.

Our next of kin will be on tgt posting about the new 1911 handles they installed and waited 5 months for.

"Common Sense" when uttered by a leftist/liberal/demoncrat means something totally different than when a conservative says it. A conservative means, something that makes sense, works, and will benefit the most people. A demoncrat means, what we think you all should do, regardless of the consequences, costs, or who it hurts. It will benefit us!.

I know that most here don't need to be reminded of this historical fact, but-
The 2nd Amendment was written into the Constitution in order to provide protection of all other Amendments from another tyrannical gubment- like the one we have had since the beginning of the War for Southern Independence/of Northern Aggression. This nation first submitted to the Feds at Appomattox Courthouse in April 1865 and has been progressively taken over by a tyrannical central gubment which was supposed to be limited only to any power granted it by the STATES.
Now you know the ONLY way to make things right... if you didn't get the picture of just what your tyrannical central gubment thinks of We the People on Jan. 6th, well, bless yer little heart, Child.

"Common sense" is nothing more than a passive aggressive tactic to imply that disagreement with the presenter is a form of stupidity. It's the phrasing structure of those who have no actual technical insight to what they advocating for, and wish to shut down any further discussion on the topic. This doesn't only apply to guns. This is anytime. IF you ever hear someone use "it's just common sense" understand they have NO structured argument to support their position.

We can dig into the colloquial definition of "common sense" meaning knowledge gained from experience rather than scholarly study, but none of the anti-gun zealots have any experience in the subject of firearms, self defense, or constitutional law. Fear porn and shame are their only arguments.

Amazing accurate answer and an answer that can be applied to other topics.
