One possible route I could see and I believe RINOs would back this is making future sales of semi autos like ARs and AKs NFA items but letting everything before that be grand fathered in.
No idea how to enforce it but I could see something like that happening

It’s unethical. With what is in most safes, making those guns nfa would financially be a hardship. Then even if they get grandfathered in without asking for money, how can you enforce who’s pre or post date of ban. They have no proof.

I will never register any firearms I own. Wasn't required when I bought them, and they were legal for me to own when I bought them, so nope, not happening.

So the government wants to confiscate and/or register AR style rifles.

IMO, I think this is a good idea because all of the criminals will have to turn in or register their guns. And... this will make it safer for us to be out after dark.

If the government is determined to act, it will ignore SCOTUS.

I think all of those cities and states will tell you that they are not ignoring Heller, but instead have passed laws which they believe are in compliance with Heller, or were not addressed in Heller.

For the topic of this thread, we can both agree there are no confiscation laws anywhere in America, so the entire nation is in compliance with Heller, and nobody anywhere is ignoring SCOTUS.

I understand that you were referencing other laws above when you said "ignoring Heller", but none of those laws have yet been challenged before SCOTUS, so we cannot yet conclude anyone will ignore SCOTUS. The problem, as you well know, was the composition of SCOTUS caused SCOTUS to not take any 2A cases. Now that composition has changed in our favor, we have hope that 2A cases will again be heard, and we can then find out the truth about anyone actually ignoring SCOTUS.

In the end, I'd bet the government will not ignore SCOTUS. In part, because things change. Trump almost got re-elected, after Biden's term another Republican might well become President, and Republican majorities in Congress happened recently and might well happen again very soon. So if the democrats ignore Heller this term, well, next term the Republicans might prosecute them, or perhaps start ignoring things like Roe v Wade, and just shut down all the abortion clinics. The democrats know this, and so I don't think they will play that game.

Another issue I have seen over the years, participating on many different gun forums over the years is way too much in-fighting among ourselves as gun owners. We are not a cohesive group, with a common belief, or goals. We need to be though. Without those, those that would seek to deprive us of our guns and gun rights, will eat away at them in very small bites, until at some point, they are gone.

Case in point I saw over the last few years, was the subject of "bumpstocks" and any legislation regarding them. You have gun owners on one side saying they are a form of a cheap means of having a fully auto weapon and they have no desire to have them and they serve no purpose or are then practical. Then you have those on the other side saying they are not a fully auto weapon, and they were legal, but now they aren't.

Personally, I have no need, or desire for a "bumpstock" and wouldn't have one if you gave it to me. They are IMO, an impractical gimmick that wastes ammo. But that is a person opinion of mine on them. But, I would argue and defend any gun owner being able to own and use them if that us their choice of gun accessories.

Those that oppose gun owners, and would like to see us disarmed, are counting on us being divided and fragmented. It only makes their objectives and agenda much easier. As many law abiding gun owners as there are in this country got united and a cohesive group, protecting and defending our gun rights got together for that common cause, we would be able to defeat those who desire to deprive us of our guns.

If you've ever filled out a 4473....you're registered. <---no matter what the government tells you.

ETA: Many of you have a lot more faith in your fellow citizens than I do. Surveys have been done on the likelihood of LEO's vs Military following unconstitutional orders. LEO's were FAR more likely to break down your door than random grunts. When their (Oath Breakers) livelihood and retirement is threatened......"I was just following orders" will be the standard response.

2nd Amendment & a conservative Leaning SCOTUS is going to be hard to get around. I don’t see anyone kicking in doors of law abiding citizens. I think it would take scraping the entire constitution and I don’t see that happening.

IF Biden becomes President and IF the Demoncrats win those two Senate seats in Georgia, then Kamala Harris will have free reign to change the U.S. Supreme Court from 9 justices to 13.

She will then nominate 4 new far-left justices that make the current liberals on the Court seem conservative by comparison.

And, poof, just like that your conservative majority on the Supreme Court vanishes.

The liberal majority on the Court will rubber stamp every nutty far-left law that comes before the Court.

Nope. They are ignoring Heller. SCOTUS has been refusing to take up the challenges, because the four constitutionalists feared Roberts flipflopping. Look for them to take up one of these next year, and for cities to be smacked for ignoring Heller.

Cities can say they are not ignoring Heller, but that does not change reality.
