They will simply freeze your finances, stop your social security and medicare ., hope you have a stash of food.

Set up road blocks, that always works.

If and when we reach that point, it will be too late .

With a banana republic takeover over the white house, anything is possible.

Are we seriously looking at jackboots kicking in doors? I can't imagine Americans would do that to Americans.
This aint the America any of us grew up in. Lots of new faces to this country love the government and hate anyone who thinks freely. Hell, lots of people who have been here for generations have changed into flag burning communists

I wouldnt want to think that people would enforce this but i could see it happening in cities and blue states

there are over 19-1/2 million of these rifles in circulation in the US since 1990.
This, imo, is the key fact to remember. Because when you ask:

What are y'all's opinion as to who would be doing the forced confiscation for those unwilling to allow registration and compensated confiscation?
I would say that any such law will be struck down by SCOTUS as unconstitutional. We are the majority on SCOTUS now, and even Roberts voted for the Heller decision, so maybe we're 6-3 on SCOTUS. Who cares about the Heller decision? We do, because the Heller decision held that "the [Second Amendment Right] applies to those [weapons] used by the militia, i.e., those in common use for lawful purposes."

So:
IF
there are 20 million of these things running around,
AND
19.9999 million of them are used for lawful purposes (sporting rifles are very rarely used in any kind of crime)
THEN
they are in common use for lawful purposes, which means they are protected by the 2A, so the govt can't confiscate them.

Registration / licensing was not covered in the Heller decision:
"
Because Heller conceded at oral argument that the D. C. licensing law is permissible if it is not enforced arbitrarily and capriciously, the Court assumes that a license will satisfy his prayer for relief and does not address the licensing requirement"

so we might end up fighting some scheme along those lines, but again, we have the originalist majority on the Court, they are going to be fighting a very, very uphill battle to get such legislation passed. Think about the Senate -- a lot of Senators had to squeak by in their elections. Look at Georgia -- does anyone believe those Senators are going to sign on to a bill calling for registration of ARs? Doesn't pass the sniff test, so such a law will never get past the Senate, and even if it did, it would never get past SCOTUS.

Still, will thugs beat your door down to take your things? Who would do this? As many in this forum have, I did my tour for my country. I would NEVER follow an order that went against my conscious as a human being.

If We’re really at the1984, no bullshit, George Orwell book burning thought police stage, then I guess this country is done. I can’t believe it though. While I have breath in my body I’ll vigorously support and defend your and my freedom. Some 19 year old kid might be bullied into knocking on my door demanding my shit, but a 35 year old man with a wife and kids won’t have a desire to screw up my or his life by doing that...right?
Same thing people have said many times in history. Just before they were turned from citizens into subjects. Nothing magical that says American can't go that way. Over half this country just voted for socialism. Did no one notice?

Police are enforcing unconstitutional emergency orders right now (granted, not all). Sometimes with enthusiasm. Police are "just following orders" and allow criminals to loot, burn and assault. And you think all officers would stand up and refuse to follow orders on gun confiscation?

Correct at one level.

Yet how many cities and states are ignoring "Heller" right now?

If the government is determined to act, it will ignore SCOTUS.

Man - that's bleak, Brother. I want to have more faith than that.
No, it’s realism. Look at what Americans do to each other every day. Think back on some of the rhetoric you’ve heard over the last fee years.

As for .gov actions, cities, states, and feds have all been atrocious towards Americans who did not agree with their position. Plenty of history on that.

That doesn’t mean I don’t see the universal greatness of America but like any other, the shining city on the hill has a sewer underneath that can’t be denied.
