Searched but didn't find a specific thread regarding the confiscation or "buy back" of modern sporting rifles and who would be willing to allow this. I was pleasantly surprised
to learn that there are over 19-1/2 million of these rifles in circulation in the US since 1990. Sure, the gov't won't know about your guns unless you register them, but if you don't, it really paints one into a corner. There are very few options at that point. What are y'all's opinion as to who would be doing the forced confiscation for those unwilling to allow registration and compensated confiscation? Are we seriously looking at jackboots kicking in doors? I can't imagine Americans would do that to Americans. After all, these folks are our fathers, husbands, brothers and friends. I've been around the block as many times as most of you folks...and I just don't freaking know what's next.

I wouldn’t be surprised at any damn thing one American would do to another, much less government agencies on a mission.

Simple knowledge of US history shows governments have no problem doing whatever it takes to get whatever they want.
I believe you are absolutely correct. Don't assume that your fellow Americans won't bust your door down if it came to that.

I very much doubt that there will be door to door confiscation. If legislation is passed for registration or confiscation then anyone that does not choose one or the other will basically have to hide what they have otherwise they would risk law enforcement noticing and then checking to verify that it is registered.

The same thing happened in New Zealand and it seems that most people there opted to keep what they have hidden rather than turn them in.

Man - that's bleak, Brother. I want to have more faith than that.

So why hide anything if you're just going to become a criminal by doing so? You're a criminal if you choose not to hide your possessions as well.

This is about something that one day was legal for us to own, and with the stroke of a pen, they will classified as illegal, or need to be registered? And if they temporarily "allow" you to retain ownership of your own property if you register it, then guess what? IF they decided to then wanted to confiscate your property, (and I seriously doubt there would be proper compensation.) guess what? Not hard to do because everyone that registered theirs, will be on a database for them find them when they want to. And more than likely, they won't go door to door looking for them, but it wouldn't surprise me if they aren't going to offer rewards to people that see them to "snitch" on their fellow citizens that still retain these firearms they deem are so "dangerous".

No sir, it doesn't take a load of bricks to fall on my head to recognize this for what it exactly is. Communism. Disarm the citizens and you have now gained a greater control over those citizens. Umm...correction. At that point, being disarmed, we are no longer citizens, but either subjects, or slaves of our "leadership" that control our country.

Make no mistake, WE being armed with these "dangerous" guns, scares the crap out of thse who would wish to control us. Didn't we learn a valuable lesson from the Jews during WW2? Why do you think the Jewish people in Israel are so keen on not ever allowing that to happen to them again? They learned a lesson, and vowed as a nation that they would rather fight, and die, than to willingly be led to the gas chambers again.

We as law-abiding gun owners, and citizens of this great country, need to get united with a common cause. Our guns and our rights, and our freedoms. Every stinking last one of us gun owners. We need to accept this is a war against our right to bear arms. It's a war that has been going on now for decades. It has been taking place in several states, and is slowly moving into others as well. And unless we do something, it's not going to get better, it will only get worse.

I won't go into details on any open forum and haven't, but I know where my line in the sand is drawn, and those very close to me, know where that line is. They also share my sentiments on this as I do theirs. We are of like minds, and spirits on this subject.

I have never thought of myself as brave man, or a hero, but I'm no coward either, and I got right with God years ago, and in my thoughts on some things, dying isn't the worst thing I could ever go through, and I'll not ever live my life being a slave. I'll trust in God to guide my thoughts, and my actions in when the time has come.

Rant off.

I, too, have drawn a line. Guns buried in a hole in the backyard is not a part of my equation as a free man and an American citizen. I respect your position and I too have made peace with my God in this regard.
Still, will thugs beat your door down to take your things? Who would do this? As many in this forum have, I did my tour for my country. I would NEVER follow an order that went against my conscious as a human being.

If We’re really at the1984, no bullshit, George Orwell book burning thought police stage, then I guess this country is done. I can’t believe it though. While I have breath in my body I’ll vigorously support and defend your and my freedom. Some 19 year old kid might be bullied into knocking on my door demanding my shit, but a 35 year old man with a wife and kids won’t have a desire to screw up my or his life by doing that...right?

There will be a few confiscations just to put the fear of the law into folks, but for the most part this ↑ is how it will happen.
