I have recently moved back to Texas. I have an Arizona and Utah Out of State permit. Do I have to go through the background check for gun purchase? Thank you.

Yes you do because in Texas, if you're a dead beat Dad, no dice. Not sure if other states do that, Could also have a misdemeanor warrant outstanding in Texas.

Are you aware that Texas is now Constitutional Carry as of Sep 1st? No license required for concealed or open carry. But if you want to get a License To Carry (LTC), which I recommend, you will have to go through the whole first time process.

BTW, Texas no longer has a "CHL".

OP was asking about purchasing a gun, not carrying it ("Do I have to go through the background check for gun purchase?").

Texas is Permitless Carry because there are certain non-felony offenses that can prohibit your ability to carry a handgun.
