Check the barrel. Squib alert.6

I bought a used Smith and Wesson model 459 from a dealer in Arizona, through Gunbroker. After my receipt , I did an inspection and found a squib half way down the barrel. Ive bought a few guns on line, this is the only time I’ve had a problem.

I think I’d call them out on this if it wasn’t disclosed. How far into the barrel is it? You planning on pushing it out or just replacing the barrel?

That's a possibility, along with a bulged barrel. If someone was clueless & fired another shot not knowing any better.

I obviously don’t mean firing a round but using a dowel to push the bullet out.

I wasn't really referring to you, rather the shooter who shot the squib. We all have seen pictures with multiple bullets stuck in barrels.

Tried that. I was also aware of bulging. If my vise would open up more, I would have tried that. I did some serious pounding. Just to freaky. Match grade barrel $125

I have bought many firearms online, no matter the description I always clean the action before test firing.

I still have all my fingers. I had a squib during a stage, and everyone heard it knew what it was when it happened. It was a “phew” instead of a ”pop”

One of the terrors in shooting an original Colt Thompson SMG is having a squib round stick in the barrel . Often the bolt will still have enough energy to recoil back , pick up another round and fire it which will bulge the barrel.
Original Colt replacement barrels are non-existent. None.
I've seen several Colt barrels bulged this way. This is probably a $10,000 mistake.
I shake each and every round (even top notch factory) to make sure there is powder in it.

All gun owners should catch this and not intentionally. Every used gun I buy I’m always curious to the barrel life left. Should be something you want to know! Well there you go you will see something.

I would not call that luck. More like good old fashioned common sense. The one human quality that is increasingly harder to find every day.
