Well, the 13 year old girl couldn't be charged as an adult because of her age, but the prosecutor should have moved the 15 year old girl's case to adult court and had her charged as an adult with murder.

IMO, if the teems can understand between right and wrong, such crimes should be charged in adult court, with all the penalties that can go with being tried as an adult. This is why our justice and penal systems are so screwed up, and too many teens are getting away with very serious criminal acts.

Make sure you know the state laws.

That is entirely the problem. Many states, juveniles are not charged as adults even for very serious crimes as murder, because of their age. IMO, this sends a bad message to other juveniles that they can essentially get away with murder because they are tried and sentenced in juvenile court. Depending on the criminal act, then can be out by the time they are 18 years old.

Very seldom are teens the ages of these two girls ever charged and tried in adult court. That IMO is part of the problem.

For many, or most juveniles, you are pretty much correct.

IMO, the prosecutors are a large part of the problem, just like in this case. Not pushing to have these juveniles tried in adult courts, where they could be punished with much stricter sentences, more deserving of the crimes that were committed.

They tend to think of these juveniles as children, instead of criminals, and treat them with kid gloves.

    Not where you are
A YES two more fine upstanding young black girls destined to grow up and do something with their lives.
Like be crack whores or sling drugs maybe even continue on with the murder gigs.

    Society is so fucked up.

Maybe just maybe a few of these so called troubled youths were held accountable as they should be others would NOT be so stupid.

Watch the series "The Wire" on HBOmax and see how corrupted minors can be including murder. The real world is even worse than this series and it pulls no punches.

The prosecutor that agreed to that plea deal is just as much a criminal as those girls.
They should be made to explain their reasoning to the man's family. In person on live TV. With nobody else in a locked room......

Exactly. She couldn't charge the 13 year old girl due to state laws, but she sure could have charged the 15 year old girl in adult court if she had wanted to. That was just further denial of justice on the part of the victim and his family.

There's a big push to keep "protected classes" of "historically marginalized" people from being held responsible for the crimes they commit. Social justice, you know. Because it's more important to coddle them and protect them from the consequences of their actions than it is to protect the general public from their crimes.

The world gets more screwed up every day. I can't bear watching the news anymore. We tolerate murderers, illegal invaders, cheating, lying, corruption, voting fraud, rioting, looting, and a president with dementia being manipulated by who knows what people. And people are punished for not wearing a mask, for telling the truth, for saying anything that could be extrapolated to be politically unacceptable, for supporting The Constitution and the Bill of Rights. We bleed our citizens with taxes and send the money to corrupt regimes that hate us and work every day to destroy us - and also feed part of that money back to our politicians. We pay Congress members $175k/year and they become millionaires before their first term of office finishes. The government decides if you can get on an airplane and travel to another city. The world is nearly upside down, and the best we can do is to try to keep our powder dry and hope that when they come for us that we can take some of them down as well.

Laws only apply to white folks, taxpayers, folks who produce legal good/services and/or the law-abiding anymore.

If you ain’t any of these, the laws are designed to protect you as you rape and pillage the folks mentioned above.

San Angelo is bad about that in reference to code violations. If you have money, they will cite you for a piece of 2x4 and plywood or a vehicle in your yard. $100 dollar a day fine until the offences are rectified. Yet, on the other side of the tracks, vehicles in a yard so long a tree is growing through the engine compartment or you are unable to see the yard for the trash yet no citations - let alone fines - are issued.

I understand the same thing is happening in California too.
