If you haven't done so already i encourage you to start a thread in the introductions area.
There are lots of good folks here on TGT and we like to get to know the new folks coming along.
As for LGS, I highly recommend Modern Elite and you are near them.

You will find more opinions than there are people on this forum.

Personally, I would recommend a CCO or compact 1911 in .45. Excellent self defense round in a proven platform. Easily carried concealed.

    I was thinking about picking up that J.A. nine simply because it would make a hillarious first pistol. I want a .357 wheel gun, either a sp 101 or a smith, A sig p320, and the cmmg ar9 counterpart. A 1911, a seecamp 380, a 22, a colt vest pocket in .25, a roughbar in 9, a bond arms/boberg bullpup 9, baby glock 45, fn 57, 500 mag... there isn't much I don't want.
You forgot any lever action rifles

    That place east of Waco....
For a first carry pistol, I would actually recommend two guns....a 9mm semiauto or .38Spl revolver and a similar gun chambered in .22lr. for cheap practice. Examples would include a Taurus G3c and TX22, Taurus 856 and 942, Ruger LCR in 9mm or .357 plus a LCR in .22lr, Ruger Max-9 and LCPII .22lr, S&W Shield and M&P 22, etc.

So I get my Texas state DL on Friday, I plan on going to gey my first pistol later that day. I'm in San Antonio, any suggestions on places to go? I'm pretty open as far as what gun I'm going to buy, I want so many that its almost a non issue. I've been into firearms my whole life, particularly pistols, but couldn't get a permit where I lived previously.
Your gonna have to really get lucky to find a Roubaugh. They had 2 in Austin at Sportman’s Finest- I only bought one But that was 2 years ago-Spendy. Get yourself a Glock 43 if not able to find the Roubaugh (and keep looking for one). Welcome to Texas

You don't need any permit to buy a gun here.
