Hey those English sparrows are tiny but are pretty tasty. You can eat the bones too.

I use gamoviper .22 spring powered air shotgun when they are on the ground tree, on the house an old daisy powerline 880 with a crummy tasco scope, on 5 pumps with a Crossman hollowpoint pellet. Doesn't shoot through, and doesn't hurt the birdhouse in the least in the case of a miss.
For real fun the henry garden gun 22 cal shotgun for shooting them on the wing!

Ive tried the traps bit had not much luck. Ground baiting and shooting from concealment has been working well.

Hardly see them around anymore after several years of this.

English sparrows are an invasive species and I am not sure of the legality of catch and release.

Glad see others joining the fight to protect our native bird species

Just do like you would for chicken feet or pig feet but use whatever spices you like basically. I'm sure there is a whole science I'm missing.

And they do kindof overdo it over there, the beauty here is you are actually doing good for the state ecosystems by targeting an invasive species. So no moral quandries.

If your trap is working you could always try a version of the French orlotan recipe, with no need for the large napkin since there would be no shame in it.
