Anyone have a recommendation for a bicycle speedometer? Reading the reviews on the less expensive models, they seem like chinese junk. I really don't want to spend more than $100.

    Any input would be appreciated.

Do people still buy speedometers? I had a handheld GPS that gave me speed, average speed and trip distance. Other than eating batteries, it was pretty nice.

I have had MANY computers. These and cateye are the best.

If your budget is firm at 100, you may need to look for this Garmin edge 130 used but it is way more versatile than a traditional computer

Garmin Edge 130 Plus, GPS Cycling/Bike Computer, Download Structure Workouts, ClimbPro Pacing Guidance and More (010-02385-00) https://a.co/d/3bcFWDH

    Also consider the app STRAVA...

Like @cycleguy2300, I will endorse Cat Eye as a dedicated computer and I’ve used a bunch to include a ton of garming Forerunner products. Most of those are going to be overkill and tedious to setup, generally requiring at least one wire to run and programming the computer to your tire size.

Or download Strava and get something like a bones wrap mount for your phone and be done with it.

And when you’re done you’ll get a ton of data starting with.

Finally, Strava has a feature called beacon that can be useful.

All if that for the cost of free. You can opt for the subscription, but I don’t see the need for it for most people.

Got one of the GPS models for my wife's bike a few years ago. Worked alright except for the battery life, had to recharge the dang thing after every ride. Got fed up with it and replaced it with a Cat Eye. No problems since I replaced the unit.

I use a Google app for a speedometer on my phone. Comparing it to the speedometer on the wife's car, it seems to be accurate. I guess depending on the fact that the car's speedometer is accurate.

I’ve got a Sigma Sport. Bought it about 3 years ago on Amazon for $27.95. Simple enough and seems to work okay. I can’t attest to the accuracy, but the trip seems like it’s right based on known distances around the hood.

    Hey there.
Im actually a life long cyclist. What do you want out of your "speedometer"? For example, do yoh want gradient? Cadence? Power meter? Calories? Heart monitor?
    Or just speed?

    Just speed and distance.

Have one on order recommended by CG.
