Bernie is a threat

One of the things that bothers me on an almost visceral level is so many politicians- including so-called conservatives- calling semi-auto rifles like AR variants 'assault rifles,' or 'assault weapons.'

It's very difficult for me to take someone seriously when they don't understand -or worse, refuse to use- simple, correct terminology.

Bernie is terrifying. He spent his freaking honey moon in the USSR while travel was still restricted there. I was in the US Army at the time, and got married about a year after he did, and if I had gone there, for ANY reason (other than maybe if I had been attached to an embassy or something like that on official business), my clearance would have been revoked and I'd have been court martialed.

I was a Czech linguist in the army, and there was a civilian at one of my TDY assignments, I think CIA or DIA (he never said, I never asked, but he had a TS clearance with virtually unlimited access so he had to be somethig) who was a defector from Czechoslovakia.

We hung out a bit and his unvarnished stories of the Stasi, KGB, and politburo were horrible.

I'm convinced that all instances of socialism/communism have been, and because of human nature, will always be, pretty much the most horrible examples of "Pretty in public, True Genocide/horror show behind the scenes."

The Sweet Song of Socialism is so alluring to the young and the very old. Its based upon FREE Lunches, take from the rich give to the poor and of course to the people, they see the Billionaire Boys Clubs as rich and themselves as poor. Elect me and I will tax the rich and give to you, free Netflix (E Warren, $85 Billion program), owe College loan debt, I will wipe it out, don't have a fone, Cell fone is your and we pay the monthly bill for ya and the beat goes on and on and on. Where does the money come from? The Rich and the Govt, never worry again from cradle to grave!

And yet almost every single study of the 'poor' in the USA says that they're better off than something like 95 or 96% of ALL of the rest of the world. Our poor aren't quite the 1%, but they're damn close.

Do any of them actually believe they will be better off once we 'level' the playing field at some theoretical global level? I personally think 80+% of us will be unemployed and will be eating grasses, roots, and stray dogs if that comes to pass.

While I’m sure there is abject poverty in America, I have yet to see even the worst homeless in the same level of poverty as I’ve seen in Ghana, Tanzania, Rwanda, and Afghanistan. You’re talking orders or magnitude worse in those places.
