    Shotgun people,

I've developed arthritis in my shoulders / neck the last couple of years, also have a pinched nerve in my neck.

I can still shoot whatever I want, it just isn't fun if I shoot too much / too long and I know I won't be able to keep it up forever as these issues don't get better over time.

Anyway, I read an article about how Benellis have less recoil than most popular 12 gauge options and ended up getting an M4.

    Any other recommendations?

    Thanks......p

Benelli has recoil reducers. It's a liquid filled tube in the stock. They actually work pretty well for recoil and shifting the weight balance back in the gun. It offsets when I run suppressed.

I have a 590A1. Heavy bitch. Reduces recoil.

13 back surgeries, ruptured disc in neck and nerve damage from it. Both shoulders are bad. Too much weight lifting and shooting mag buck shot for years.there is no free lunch. You always pay....eventually.

    I feel you.

    ETA steroid injections help too.

The softest shooting shotguns are the gas operated variety.
The Browning Gold used to be the softest.
Beretta’s A-400 series has now taken the top position, especially the A-400 Multitarget.
The old Remington 1100’s are good too.
Stay away from inertia driven guns and long recoil systems.
Fixed breach guns can be made manageable with aftermarket recoil reduction fixtures.

Benelli m4s are heavy and contribute to reduced recoil. You still feel it though. I've had 2 reconstructive surgeries on my shoulder, stayed away from heavy hitters for awhile. Even shooting 3" magnum slugs out of the n4 wasn't too bad.

another vote Beretta 400. Love mine. Recoil is mild.

The gas operated Beretta A350 Xtrema I shouldn’t have sold was the softest-shooting shotgun I’ve ever fired.
