Great call Shooter. Tony snagged him about a half hour earlier. You guys are one big reason this is a great forum.

Not sure there is a better way better to ferret out a scammer than heads up attention to details.

    GOOD WORK!

If the word “kindly” appears anywhere in a correspondence with someone, you can rest assured that they are from a country where wiping with a bare hand is the norm and you are having a scam attempted on you.

Usually following “kindly” is do the needful, but the nasty benchoads are learning their tells.

You lasted a lot longer dealing with that guy than I would have. The Zelle scam is just a rehashed PayPal scam from a few years back.

I listed a few things on Marketplace when I moved recently. A few "locals" popped up within minutes wanting to use Zelle even though they supposedly live in my town.

"Just bring cash when you come pick it up."

"But the way my account is set up....."

    "Never mind then."

There is no way I would ever refund money that I had not received. Also, I have had issues with Zelle that makes me want to treat payments like a personal check with a "holding period" before acting.

Here's the most common one: I get a pending inbound. Not sure why the funds sometimes have to wait 1-3 days to clear. If there is a wait, then there are a reasons for that wait that could lead to a rejection of funds. Any Zelle fans able to explain this?

This one only happened once: I get a text showing funds are delivered to my bank account, but I don't see it in my bank account at all. 5 min later I get a text showing it was rejected due to a problem with the sender. If I was the OP and had refunded payment in between those 5 min, I think I would be out the refund.

For anyone messaging me to tell me this topic isn't on topic for this sub forum, be advised that I already know.

The information is sufficiently valuable that the thread stays.

Thanks, shooter60, for doing a solid for everyone on TGT.

Just remember guys, do not get in a hurry and make sure your hands are on the money before shipping anything and NEVER buy into the refunding trick. You are in control of the situation unless you get greedy and let your guard down.
Great job listening to your gut.

Good Catch, thanks for making it known! There are so many damn scammers lately, refuse to do shipping entirely nowadays unless from a credited seller.
