    @Skeet

Don't worry, you're in good company. Many of us have posted in Rants and Raves about that very same thing.

I find it strange that my friend is saying you can't come to a thread about being banned from FB and add your story to the list. He's free not to come here and read about it and it obviously is not violating any TGT rules.

    Carry on!

You're not trying hard enough. Many of us consider it a badge of honor to get banned on FB. I constantly mock their Fact Chuckers openly and say things like "Phuck Zuck" just to try to get under their skin... they deserve it. They used to leave us alone to our posts, now they have staff to shut us down. Screw em!!!
I'm sorry, but I don't see it as a "badge of honor" to see how many times you can get banned from a social media site.

Exactly where does that place in the annals of glory the trolls and troublemakers that have been banned from this forum?

So in reference to your first paragraph, you almost make it sound as if I shouldn't express an opposing thought to his post. Wow.

Maybe I should be more careful in picking my friends from now on.

Never said it was a badge of honor. It is about their suppressing conservative view points or historical facts that they find inconvenient. The double standard is infuriating in a supposedly free society.

Facebook is what Facebook is. What would you have me say?

Do you feel better having complained about being banned seven times?

Personally, I don't discuss politics or religion on Facebook now for some years. So I don't use it as a platform to discuss such subjects.

I use Facebook simply as means to stay in touch with family and friends that live out of town and out of state.

IMO, that's ok. But many people do. I can't understand why that is not ok with you.

Big diff. Nobody I know is posting to FB to trigger their FB friends. I for one, don't have a public presence, so what I put up is shared only with my like minded FB friends... yet Facebook is so stressed by that they delete those posts. It's outrageous.

It's their site, they can run it how they wish within certain boundaries (I think they are acting as publishers and not as a platform), but I don't have to like it.

So in reference to your first paragraph, you almost make it sound as if I shouldn't express an opposing thought to his post. Wow.

Nope, Not at all. Never said it, never implied it. I said I found it strange that you would ask him not to post.

The problem I had was with you asking him not to come here, in a Rants/Raves thread about FB bans, and complain. Seems a bit Karenish to me, and I know you are not like that, so I wonder what is going on with your strongly worded posts to people lately. Seems like the folks that have criticized you have changed you somehow.

Maybe I should be more careful in picking my friends from now on.

I'm sorry you feel that way, but I will ALWAYS be your online friend unless YOU decide otherwise. Just so you know, I believe a really good friend tells you the truth. Please don't make me afraid to do that!!!

Personally, I don't discuss politics or religion on Facebook now for some years. So I don't use it as a platform to discuss such subjects.

That is probably wise. I know a lot of folks that wish FB would go back to it's roots of Family and Friends. But I'm more with what Younguns posted regarding the culture war that is being waged in social media spaces.

Do you feel better having complained about being banned seven times?

Yes. It's kinda like bitching/griping to the wife or bartender, or both. I wish I could have a beer tho.

I'm sorry if my level of sympathy doesn't rise to the point of being acceptable to some here for simply being banned on FB for expressing an opinion that is contrary to FB in general.

Lest some may forget, last I checked, there is still freedom of speech in this country. Some like FB may try and stifle it, but it's still there. Not like in some countries that speaking your thoughts, or expressing an opinion that opposes those that hold the power, can land a person in real prison, sometimes beaten and tortured, and in some places, with a bullet in the head and dumped into a ditch.

Be thankful for the freedoms you have. Some people are imprisoned, and even killed for what you have.

Quite frankly, I just gave up years ago about giving a shit about the culture wars.

Kind of like I don't give a shit about commies, socialists, or anti-gun liberals, or trying to change hearts and minds anymore.

Well, I'm right there on that one. But I will always try to fight commies and socialists wherever they try to change this great country. It's not about changing them, it's about reaching the undecided or the unaware.

Simple fact is, Zuckerberg owns Facebook. It's his social media platform to do with as he pleases, which good or bad, it's his to make the rules, or even to change those rules if his mood changes.

Do I like that? Not in the least. But complaining about it is futile. And what purpose is anyone furthering by going against them and getting banned? Nothing that I can see.

Maybe instead of people complaining, maybe spend that time and energy in creating something that leans towards being more conservative.

I already stipulated to his ownership and right to run it as he sees fit... within the rules that govern internet "platforms". He was plenty happy to accept the protection of Section 230 which holds that social media "platforms" are not liable for what is said on their websites. However, at least since 2016, perhaps earlier, FB and other tech giants have engaged in selective publishing of posts and censorship of posts via their feed algorithms and auto censor algorithms, as well as their outright group of censors they hired from the China PRC restriction and clamp down on free speech in the PRC. Now, this same govt control and the govt/FB/Techgiant partnerships where they have agreements to do govt bidding disqualifies them from any thought of them deserving the protection of a supposedly "open platform", which they are not.

Do I like that? Not in the least. But complaining about it is futile.

And yet here we are, both of us reading a thread that is ALL about complaining about FB. Futile or not, we don't get to choose what people post about, but we can choose what we read. Complaining about other's Rants/Raves is IMO, illogical to say the least.

And what purpose is anyone furthering by going against them and getting banned?

You'd be surprised. They've backed off from deleting so many of my posts. So I think my complaints there are registering a small amount. Today, unless I am really flaunting rules on supporting violence or attacking other groups of people, they kinda leave me alone compared to before.

Maybe instead of people complaining, maybe spend that time and energy in creating something that leans towards being more conservative.

Well, I lack the imagination, drive, and funding to create my own social media, but I spend time on a lot of conservative social websites. I support Rumble quite a lot with my viewership. To a lesser extent GAB, because I find the interface clunky. I was on MeWe as an alternative to FB, but it is not near as populated as FB so it was pretty lonely there. FB is still the big player. I was heavily on Parler before Jan 6 and their assassination by the Amazon server group. They're back up, but I can't get back on under my old account for some reason. Dan Bongino owns a good stake in Parler... he's a good guy.

That said, I reserve the right to complain about anything I want, anytime I want. I'm ot breaking any rules by doing so, whether you think it is futile or useless or silly or annoying or what your problem with it is.

Many people don't like complaints. I get it. It's like walking into a bar and listening to all the drunks talking trash about their wives and everything else in the world with their bad attitudes. But, if you stay out of those rooms, you will not be exposed to that distasteful activity.

I may cut down on the political posts/memes I put on FB. As many of my FB friends and family don't post such... maybe half. But the rest always give positive feedback. So, I'll think about it, but until one of the other platforms becomes THE place to rx political discourse, I'll probably continue to annoy at least half my FB readers.

Old saying: If you build a better mouse-trap, the world will beat a path to your door.

That's all well and good, but Big Tech is crushing all the competition in partnership with .gov... just ask Dan Bongino and Parler. I'm not sure how I feel about anti-trust laws, but it may be time to take a look at breaking up Big Tech monopolies.

P.S. Did you see the report or study that said that Instagram is harmful to young lives/minds?

P.P.S. Sorry for the long post!!!

I think from here on out, I'll just keep my opinions about FB to myself and do what I have been doing for years.

I kind of just sick of people always complaining about "muh raights" when they should be thankful they have rights.

Tired of beating a dead horse.

Whatever you want to do on FB is fine with me.

But to be clear, I wasn't one of the ones stating that it's a right to post whatever I want on a private website. I get it. My problem with their policies lies elsewhere, as I have stated. But I don't know why I should have to state it so many times.

To be honest, I was just kind of put off with the OP who started this thread, and the new guy kind of struck a nerve with his posts here.

I fully understand that with some of the social media platforms, there is a double-standard being played.

Honestly, I despise it as much as anyone, but I don't have the answers to solving the problem. I know some might think getting the government involved might be one way, but I don't. That would just be more government intrusion into our private lives, as if there isn't enough already.

Long story short, part of the reason I don't discuss politics or religion on FB is it led me to having to "unfriend" quite a few people who I thought even though we differed in opinions, were my friends. They no longer are. So I decided I'd only use FB to stay connected to family and friends, and nothing more.

Anyone that knows me well enough, knows my political ideology and my beliefs.

I've had that same experience not only on FB, but in real life also. I even unfriended my brother. My FB purge is complete. They became my enemies because they are destroying this country and I don't miss them.

A number of people that know my ideology and beliefs insisted on going on the attack EACH time I saw them socially in real life. One guy in particular that used to be a best friend, I don't even want to ever see again because he wouldn't honor my wish to not discuss politics. But not only did he want to discuss, but he wanted to attack. One time he even suggested that I am ignorant and need to be re-educated. Every time I was around him after that, I wound up screaming at him... not worth it.

As I posted, I think you are wise to only use FB to stay connected. I wish that worked for me. I don't like making others uncomfortable. But I see something about Obama, etc, and I hate that shit, so I share with those that I know hate that shit too. I get good comments from some, others don't complain. But FB does not approve, but they get richer and more powerful every day. The culture war goes on.

Anyone that knows me well enough, knows my political ideology and my beliefs.

Same here. FB is generally a safe space now for me to rant and criticize, with the exception of all the algorithms, Fact Chuckers, and PRC censors.

    Have a great Thanksgiving!!!

Seven day ban from Facebook for posting this after the various episodes of looting in California:

Start shooting looters. That generally works in war zones so it should work well in LA, Chiraq, and Philadelphia!

The sad truth is I probably would have been fine if I had praised or advocated looting!

You're just wrong here. FB/twitter/insta form a monoploy and unjustly silence specific points of view.

I'm sure you would feel the same if the two or three grocery stores nationwide conspired in banned you from shopping if they saw the wrong bumper sticker on your car.

What if UPS and FedEx refused to ship shirts/bumper stickers/pins for a given political campaign?
