Well, I was hoping for a bare bones used rifle that I would not worry about loaning to a son or grandson if we got drawn for a hunt or did a day hunt somewhere. I do not want to lay out money for a nice rifle that someone will undoubtedly bang around, drop or use the barrel as a prybar. (you guys do not know my relations - probably would be better off to not take any of them... but....) Wanted to keep it to 200 or less - I have a scope I would not mind putting on it (old Weaver POS) Thanks for all your feedback and help... Going to hit pawnshop and if all else fails.... loan them a large rock
Yup it was still there today and had a fancy muzzle break on it. T/C Compass.GT Distributors had a T/C bolt action Saturday when I went. I can't remember the price exactly but I want to think $350.
Savage Axis XP at Academy will be a good choice like someone else said. I paid $279.
