How is it messed up? From what I saw he fired a round into the house just as the cops pulled up. I would expect what happened to happen.
How would the cops know that he hadn't just shot someone who needed shooting? The cops just shoot someone that has a gun not pointed at them and that is OK?

I'm glad there aren't any cops closer than 30 minutes to me...

It was his house, maybe he was shooting a bad guy?

Whose life was in danger of death or serious bodily harm that deadly force was immediately necessary?

    Cop did not ID himself.

Cop ordered him to drop weapon, then fired 1/87 second later, not giving him time to drop weapon.

Supposedly the 911 call said there was a man in the street with a rifle. That would put cops on high alert for sure.

But, I agree that the officers really couldn't have known if this man was defending himself from someone inside or not.

Tough call - shoot or no shoot. I can see a lawsuit coming though.

I cannot find any legal justification to shoot. Man was OC'ing on his own property.

Discharge of a rifle is a crime. He wasn’t JUST carrying on his property.

And if he was engaging someone he could have called 911 first since he was outside his home shooting.

No warning is required, not to mention he can see the police cars...

Guy is in public, shooting into an unknown house with a rifle as police arrive. He turns towards the police and they tell him drop the gun as the fire an the person who very reasonably is believed to be presenting a deadly threat to not only the officers but others.

Play stupid games, win stupid prizes.

I have zero problems with this shoot.
