Im glad there is both growing interest in our Austin TGT community and to getting out shooting together.

I won't be able to make it this Saturday (April 26) but plan on shooting at the next Saturday IDPA match I can.

Sorry to flake, but ive got to get some life stuff caught up on.

I shot the match today, and tried to focus on slowing down so I could get my hits instead of running the course as fast as possible. At one of the first matches I shot, one of the guys said "You can't miss fast enough to win", and I think that's pretty good advice that I've only recently taken to heart. Scores haven't been posted yet but I think I did much better than some of my previous matches.

I saw at least one person with a TGT shirt, but didn't get a chance to go say hi.

Texas Tactical is putting on a carbine match at ARC on Sunday, May 4, if anyone is interested. I plan to try to make it to that one.

Yeah I was there. That was my first match and I'm looking forward to more. I think if I hadn't made so many procedurals I have a competitive score but we'll see.

Out of curiosity, what were your procedurals for? Most of the ones I see are for taking shots while not behind cover. Personally I feel like I'm pretty bad at shooting from cover, I overcompensate and end up having to re-adjust my stance because I can't see the target when I lean out.

I've started incorporating it into my dryfire practice at home by standing behind a wall and leaning out to aim at a target around the corner. We'll see in a few weeks if that makes a difference.

Yeah they were for dropping the mags to soon. I learned that "dumping rounds" is not illegal so it was mostly me trying to be strategic. I did have one failure to neutralize on a far head shot so I need to improve my long game.
