Trying to get some smaller/ish things for my christmas list. I got a 10/22, sitting in the box until Christmas. I'm thinking I could add magazines to my list. I'm sure I'm fine going to factory magazines, but what about Butler Creek, ProMag, and Champion? I'm not sure if people are willing to special order online. I'm hoping someone here is a 10/22 master and can give me a very quick run through.

    Thanks,

Promags are garbage in my experience. The Butler Creek mags are hit and miss. They fit loose in the magwell and if not in the proper position can cause malfunctions. I have 3 of the steel lip versions and even they can be finicky.

I would just stick to the Ruger BX mags. I have several and they work great for me in both of my 10/22s.

I have never had a Ruger BX mag work in any of the 10/22s I own.( and I own a few)

Butler Creek Steel Lips have been 100% for me.

I have 2 Tactical Innovations Ti25 all metal magazines that work great, but are no longer made( my guess is they were very expensive )

You can't go wrong with the Ruger 10 round mags. If you want more capacity, it seems to be hit and miss with most brands, but I think you have the best odds sticking with Ruger mags. My 10/22 has no problem with the Ruger 10, 15, and 25 round mags. YMMV

Eagle mags are the biggest hunks of shit ever made.
I’d take a Ram-Line over an Eagle any day.

I think it is ultimately a fit issue. You'll see a pattern in the replies here. For my two 10/22's, they both like the Ruger BX mags and hate the Butler Creek steel lips.

The BX, factory 10 round, and Butler Creek mags have worked for me.

A mag loader would make a good gift too. I have this one and it's great.

Pic won't load but it's the Butler Creek model with the manual wheel on it.

I think most of us agree that the Ruger 10 round factory mags work great. But they only hold 10 rounds. I have a couple of the Tri Mag couplers and they are awesome. 30 rounds ready to go and they don't protrude out of the rifle very far.

I've never had an issue with the BX-1, BX-15 or BX-25 mags in my takedown. I haven't tried the 15s or 25s in my Target model yet but I will give those a go my next range outing.

I have several of these as well as several Ruger BX25 mags. Both have been 100% reliable for me through several thousand rounds.

Can’t say that for any of the others and I’ve tried them all.
