Totally anecdotal but.


Less dead deer on 380 this year for the rut. The construction may have something to do with it but we timed the rut but the huge increase of deer becoming stupid and getting hit by cars. Have only seen 1 this year.

What part of Texas are we talking about here?

Incorrect( well body size you are correct, but lack of real winter plays a huge part in that ) but you can get some phenomenal antler growth on low fence if you cull trashy antlered deer and does. View attachment 361709 View attachment 361712

Not sure about exotics... but my buddy told me a TP&W biologist told him that we lost 57% of the deer population from the 3 months of 100+ degrees summer. My suspicion was confirmed. My deer population damn near disappeared.

I was told the Y O was hit very hard by the " freeze ".

Oddly enough our low fence lease out in Val Verde has a free-ranging axis herd and we didn't notice a decline with the big TX Freeze.

Far fewer deer in my area of west Bandera County than ever in 30 years.
