I believe the SCOTUS is scheduled to take it up this year,late Fall or Winter,2011. The decision will be in time for the Election in November 2012.

I thought it was funny how it was compared to car insurance.

First, nobody is compelled by the state to buy a vehicle.

Then you don't need a license nor insurance to own or drive a car, you just can't legally drive it on the public roads.
