I bought the gun back in the 90's and haven't shot it in several years. I also bought RCBS dies, brass and a lot of Hornady XTP 95gn hollowpoint bullets but never loaded any. I thought I might load some and try out.
Any suggestions as to powder etc.

    Thanks

There's plenty of loading data available in loading manuals. Just be cautious about your bullet diameter. 9x18 Makarov bullets are about .008" larger in diameter than 9x19 Luger. Both are 9mm but that's where the resemblance stops. The shape of a Mak bullet is also round compared to the cone shaped 9x19 projectile.

I prefer Bullseye for both cartridges and the charge is very small. A pound of powder will last a LONG time! I have not used 231 powder in the 9x18 but it should also work fine.

9x18 is a very easy round to load. Have fun!

    I have 2 Polish P64, 2 P83, 1 German Makarov, 1 FEG PA63, and a CZ vz82.
Some older reload manuals do not have data for the 9X18.
    I use minimum 9X19 load data (95gr 1000-1100 FPS) for the 9X18.
    4.0 gr 700-X
    4.5 gr Win 231 or Hodg HP-38

You might start a little lower and work up.

I use the Berry's plated 95 gr. and the RIMROCK 116 gr that Buffalo Bore uses in their +P.
The Hornady XTP are hard to find at times. I have a box but the last time I tried to re-order, I could not find them anywhere.

I also have a case trimmer and shorten the 9X19 to 18mm. I resize the mouth and load the .364/.365 in the case.
The first time you fire them they fill the chamber and fire-form. I get once-fired NATO for $38/1000 so it doubles as 9X19 and 9X18 with a little work.

Berry's has the .364 plated back in stock. They were out for a long time during the PANIC!!!!!!!

Good point on the loading manual! It should be required equipment. I have over 20 manuals and recommend the Lyman 49 over all of them. Lyman 49 is the most conservative manual on the market to date.

There's a lot of load data available for the 9x18. I use Starline brass and Bullseye with cast bullets and Gold Dots.

The Alliant site shows the Speer 95 gr TMJ RN with 3.9gr Bullseye.

I reload for my CZ-82 which shoots 9x18 Makarov. I use HP-38 and Titegroup for my powders with the 93 grain Missouri Bullets. There is some data at the Hodgdon site: Set your sights on pistol reloading data | Hodgdon Reloading

I also found a couple of Youtube videos on how to convert regular 9mm brass into 9x18 Makarov. I use only nickel plated brass for the makarov conversions and use only brass for my regular 9mm. I also mark the base of the converted brass with Birchwood Brass Black (works on nickel) to make sure I don't mix them up. You just have to be very careful in all stages to keep these rounds separate from 9mm and 380.

I shoot 9x18, 9x19 and .380 and thought about trimming the 9x19 brass to make the 9x18. It just seemed too risky and way too easy to make a mistake in using the ammo. I bought brand new 9x18 and .380 brass with the correct head stamps. For what that decision cost and considering the safety benefits, it was a good choice.

not into reloading so I can't help with your questions but.....

my Safe it getting really full so I decided to re-organize the other day (it's in my walk in closet) - we've got 2 Maks and somewhere along the way I've collected A BUNCH of 9x18 ammo - as we don't shoot the Maks very often I decided to remove the ammo and will store it in ammo boxes - until then it "sits" on the closet floor

so, if anyone in interested in getting a good deal on 9x18 ammo, I'm in a selling mode - I'm in Montgomery/Conroe and will do a FTF - PM me if interested

The brass I trim & reload for 9X18 is the 'WCC XX' that is marked WCC and a 2 digit year (with a NATO circle +).
There is no numerical caliber designation to confuse me.

I reload the 9X19 that is marked LUGER or 9X19 or Parabellum.
I only shoot and collect one caliber at a time.

Everyone has their own way (or should) to keep cases separated.

    This works for me.
