    Gunz are icky.
Was at a sporting goods shop yesterday. They had some Roper brand knives for sale.
    I’ve never seen these before.
    Modest prices. $30-50.
Has Manchaca, Texas stamped on the blade. I’m assuming Chinesium made.
One very similar to a Case Sodbuster caught my eye.
Anyone here have a Roper knife?

No experience with Roper knives but the name seems familiar.
The price sounds really good and I’m always looking for a good deal.

    What kind of steel?

    Fixed blade & folders?

They only had folders at the store.
    Blade were all carbon steel.

Made in China. 1065 carbons steel (barely adequate carbon for a knife blade).

It's the same with knives and guns - yes, you can throw your money away on some junk, but you're better off to save your pennies and buy something that's built right. Know what you're buying before you lay out the cash. A knife is all about the steel, so spend a little time finding out what steels have good performance and walk away from anything else. If you're at a gun show and you see a booth full of knives (or guns for that matter) and the guy running it has used 20 lbs of Flitz to make everything so shiny it hurts your eyes, walk away immediately. Quality knives or guns don't need to shine like that. He's selling junk.

Searching the interwebz brings several hits and desciptions:

Nice looking knives, but All manufactured in China. They are cheap enough to get one and try it out if that’s what you’re after.
