I have an old Winchester 97 (solid frame) that needs the chamber/forcing cone lengthened. Anyone know of a good shotguns smith they can recommend? A bit harder on this one as the barrel will likely have to be removed. Local to San Antonio area a plus.

I think Cole’s is only in residence during big shoots.
    Call ahead.
I have mentioned before that reducing the payload by an 1/8 of an ounce will decrease pressure by roughly 500 psi, making a 2-3/4” shell safe to shoot.
If you don’t reload, any Winchester AA Featherlite will work.

Cole gunsmithing is great just expensive! I use Larry Feland in the Spring area. He's also
$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$! But any of the good one's are expensive!

JESS BRILEY MACHINE WORKS in West Houston, near Sam Houston & Katy Fwy, is excellent and most-experienced with shotgun chokes.

What you need is not a job for any neighborhood gunsmith.

Briley is where most Gulf Coast shops sent their barrel work.

I learned this lesson the very hard way.

Yes they are pricey. I just had a TSK stock installed on my daughter Beretta 694 by Coles Gunsmithing and bill came close to 2500.00.

I had a solid frame 97- chamber work was done without removing the bbl. The gunsmith I went to is no longer in business but check with the San Antonio area cowboy action shooters (if there's a local 97 smith, they'll know).
